Smartphone and Tablet Users Love Shopping [Infographic]

Research shows that mobile users are increasingly making purchases on their devices.

Retailers have good reason to rejoice about the mobile revolution: Sales from mobile-device owners have increased from 2 to 8 percent in the past two years, according to research from Statista.

Statista compiled this data point and more into an infographic on mobile commerce in the United States. Additional highlights include the following:

  • More than 40 million Americans visited Amazon via a tablet or smartphone in March 2012.
  • 6 percent of visits to online retailers came from a smartphone, as of December 2011.
  • 4 percent of visits to online retailers came from a tablet, as of December 2011.
  • 87 percent of retailers view tablets as a way to drive revenue and sales.
