Four Things to Know Before Implementing Google Gemini

Enterprises can transform the workspace with the popular artificial intelligence assistant.

The conversation around the use of generative artificial intelligence tools can be a bit overwhelming. For businesses standardized on the Google suite of productivity applications, implementing Google Gemini makes sense — but it’s critical to ensure you consider data governance, policy training and other factors.

Here are four tips to help navigate the complexities of AI integration and get off on the right foot.

1. Start With Your Data

Data governance is a fundamental aspect of successfully implementing AI technologies. It is the cornerstone of responsible, ethical, secure and effective data use within AI systems. A robust data governance framework, as well as guidelines to protect sensitive information and comply with regulatory requirements, is a prerequisite for implementing AI in any organization. Google has data protection measures in place even for the free version of Gemini. End users can gain additional data protection if they’re on the Google Workspace Plus or Standard plan.

2. Conduct a Workspace Audit

Before diving into Gemini, consider conducting a Google Workspace audit. Take a thorough look at application programming interface configurations. It’s important to verify that all Google Workspace Plus features function properly for Gemini. Also, make sure everyone has set up two-factor authentication.

3. Define Everyone’s Goals

It’s important to outline the goals your organization aims to achieve through Gemini integration. These can range from improving operational efficiency to enhancing engagement. Make sure you involve key stakeholders — including end-user employees and IT staff, not just leadership — in the planning process. Their input will be invaluable in tailoring Gemini’s features to meet specific needs.

4. Train Your Staff

Develop a training plan. Ensure that all users are equipped with the necessary skills to use Gemini effectively. This might involve organizing workshops or providing online resources. Regular training sessions will ensure that users stay up to date with the latest features and functionalities of Gemini, allowing them to fully harness its potential.
