Coming Soon to a Desktop Near You: 3D Computing
Do you consider yourself a hands-on user when it comes to technology? If the prototypes being developed by Microsoft and Apple are anything to go by, users will soon be able to reach out and touch their computing, manipulating browser windows and documents.
Fast Company reports on research being conducted by the two tech giants on what is being called 3D computing. The new paradigm finds the keyboard and mouse resting behind the display, which then allows the user to reach up and manipulate objects on screen.
As cool as this 3D prototype looks, it raises the question: Does the desktop need a reinvention like this?
